Important Installation Guidelines for Your Reclaimed Ulin Building Components
We take great pride in providing you with unique and beautiful materials. However, it's essential to understand that reclaimed ulin behaves differently compared to other woods. To ensure the successful installation and longevity of your project, we have prepared these important installation guidelines.
Qualified Installation
We highly recommend using a professional installer with a proven track record of working with reclaimed ulin. Even experienced woodworkers may need specialized expertise for this unique material.
Naturally Durable Products
Naturanexa products such as joists, battens, pergolas, and stair steps are designed to be used outdoors or in exposed environments. They are made to withstand the harshest tropical climates. We do not provide guarantees for use in climates with significant variations in humidity and temperature between seasons. All items should always be installed following good building practices and national standards.
Installation Guidelines for Decking and Flooring
For those using our materials specifically for decking and flooring, please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure optimal performance:
Maximum Area: For flooring installations, do not exceed 40 square meters at once to prevent issues related to expansion and contraction.
Expansion Gaps: Maintain an expansion gap of at least 1cm on both sides (left and right against the wall or structure) and recommended the same in front and back. For decking, also respect an expansion gap between planks of a minimum of 6mm for narrow planks and 8mm for wide planks.
Maintenance: Once installed, be cautious with maintenance. Avoid washing with water, as it can lead to warping and damage. Stains can be challenging to remove from smooth wood and impossible to remove from rustic surfaces.
Not that Naturanexa does not provide decking flooring but our partner Kaltimber, thus the guidelines above are purely informative.
Proper Fastening
Use appropriate wood screws and pre-drill before inserting the screw to prevent cracking or splitting of the wood. Under no circumstances should nails or nail guns be used in the installation.
Batten and Joist
Ensure that the batten and joist system is of sufficient height to allow proper airflow, as heat buildup can damage the planks. Additionally, the area below where batten and joist are installed should allow for water evacuation to prevent moisture buildup, which can also damage the wood.
Warranty and Replacement Policy
If the installation guidelines outlined above are not followed, we regret that we cannot provide free replacement of the wood. However, we are committed to assisting you in resolving any issues you may encounter during or after installation.
Consultation and Support
We are more than willing to provide consultation and on-site assistance as soon as our schedule allows. Depending on the nature of the consultation, it might be free. Our goal is to ensure the successful completion of your project and address any challenges that may arise.
Documentation Requirements
To be eligible for a warranty claim or wood replacement, we require clear documentation of the installation process:
Pictures during Installation: We need pictures that clearly show the placement of battens and joists, ensuring they meet the recommended standards including sizes and spacing.
Post-Installation Videos: After the installation is complete, provide videos showing the proper expansion gaps at various points on the building components or near the wall.
Contractor/Installer Responsibility
We expect the contractor or installer to share our commitment to a successful installation. They should be fully capable of addressing any issues, whether they arise from unintentional mistakes or otherwise.
